Dr. Eirini Karakatsani, an alumnus of the Molecular Thermodynamics and Modelling of Materials Laboratory, is the recipient of the 2009 European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) Excellence Award in Thermodynamics and Transport Properties.  Dr. Karakatsani's PhD thesis on "Development and Evaluation of a New Equation of State for Polar Fluids: Pure Components and Mixtures" resulted in 9 peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals.

The official award will be given to Dr. Karakatsani during the 24th European Symposium on Applied Thermodynamics (ESAT) that will be held in Santiago de Compostela,  Spain from 27 June to 1 July 2009.
